Ethics Committee

Ethical questions or problems can arise when there are different ideas about treatment, both between patients, their relatives and the therapeutic team or when there are different ideas within the therapeutic team.

We want to raise awareness of ethical problems, strengthen the ability to take responsibility and make decisions in difficult situations and promote this in all areas of our hospital and Christophorus Hospice.

Our pledge is to support sick people in their individual physical, mental and spiritual dimension, to promote their individual development possibilities, to strengthen their autonomy and to respect their self-determination.

Duties

  • The ethics committee conducts ethics consultations on request and supports doctors, nurses, therapists, patients and relatives with its recommendations on ethical issues.
  • Our ethics committee offers further training on medical ethics to medical, nursing and other staff members as required.
  • The ethics committee develops decision-making tools for frequently recurring ethical questions.

Who can request an ethics consultation?

An ethics consultation can be requested by patients and relatives as well as by doctors, nurses and therapists.
