Psychosomatic treatment for adults
In many patients, physical symptoms are an expression of psychosocial load factors that have significantly contributed to the development of illness and require a targeted psychotherapeutic treatment or accompanying treatment. In case of depressions, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic or somatoform disorders physical symptoms stand out above the rest. The task is to add psychosomatic perspectives to diagnostics and therapy of these patients, to support understanding of these interconnections among the patients, to stabilise the patients and to motivate them to start psychotherapeutic treatment later or to introduce them to it. This process can take place on both psychosomatic stations as well as integrated psychosomatic treatment in all other departments. Therefore, the department offers treatment modules that can be visited by all patients. Treatment of personality disorders by means of schema therapy is one of the areas of specialisation of our department.

People, who are interested in undergoing treatment on an inpatient basis and would like to get an idea of it, can take part in a psychoeducational group that gets together Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 14:00.
Our approach of an antroposophically enhanced psychotherapy integrates behavioural therapeutic, schema therapeutic and deep psychological perspectives in a holistic concept under which symptoms are considered to be part of previous attempts to solve underlying conflicts. In therapy process, these conflicts are looked upon from a reflective- self-centered perspective and new solutions are delivered. Exercising necessary capacity to distance yourself from stressful emotions and learning to control the thinking process consciously plays an important role.
The therapy process is intensified by means of art therapies and eurhythmy therapy, during which patients experience themselves in a new way and can learn superpersonal supporting regularities in relationships. The external applications on the antroposophical basis as well as sports and exercise therapy enable patients to build up a positive connection with the body. These treatment experiences are also very helpful for patients with eating disorders or emotional instability. Regular daily planning and retrospection support the capability of self-creation, which is especially important for young people with self-organisation deficit or impulse control disorders.
There is a possibility of an acute psychosomatic treatment in case of an acute physical symptoms after conclusion of a medical clarification, in case of psycho-somatic diseases, in case of an acute decompensated psychosomatic symptoms within the guidelines of psychotherapy.
The inpatient offer will be enhanced by means of an outpatient consultation of Ms. Biesenthal-Matthes, .Ms. Dr. Quetz, Mr. Dr. Bahr und Mr. Dr. Liese.
