Pulmonology

The department consists of approximately 30 beds, that are divided into a long-stay patients ward, an oncology ward and a short-stay patients ward. In addition to that, there is a modern and high-performance department for broncology and lungs function diagnostics.

Alongside with the whole spectre of general pulmonology diseases we have developed following areas of specialisation in diagnostics and therapy:

• Bronchial carcinoma and other tumours of the lungs, of the pleura and of the mediastinum
• Treatment of acutely deteriorated bronchial asthma and of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Treatment of pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis
• Diseases of ribs and lung membrane

Special diseases, that require attention of many specialists, are treated in the cardiopulmonary centre Havelhoehe (HLZH). It includes treatment of following diseases:

• Pulmonary hypertony
• Diseases with respiratory muscle weakness
