In addition to general medical, nursing and therapeutic treatment, which costs are reimbursed by the insurance company, you can also use additional services. This includes for example stay in a single room (additional fee between EUR 95,99 und 98,51 a day depending on the equipment of the room) or in a double room (additional fee 43,84) or treatment by the head of department. These additional services are agreed upon between you and the hospital in writing.
Up to 55% of the earnings from the private liquidation flow to the non-profit regulating organisation and are used by the hospital for construction works that are not funded by the state. The earnings of 1999 and 2000 are used to fund the construction of the obstetrics department. Further 30% of the earnings are forwarded to the insurance companies after allocating them in the hospital budget. Only 15% of the earnings go to the doctors, entitled to bill their own services, and are often used for additional charges, which cannot be funded by the hospital budget.
The hospital Havelhoehe is funded by insurance company and the state of Berlin as other hospitals, so that our hospital can be open for all patients, no matter what kind of insurance (public or private) they have. In case of a planned inpatient treatment, please bring following documents to admission:
- Referral from your doctor
- Agreement about reimbursement of costs by your insurance company
- Your ID
- Your insurance card
In the hall of the clinic (in front of the cash desk) you will find an ATM machine.

In the hall of the hospital there is book store “Kunsthandwerk & Buecher”. Here you can get textbooks about anthropology and anthroposophic medicine and Waldorf education as well as handicrafts and music instruments.

The cafeteria/kiosk in the house 28 is opened Mondays to Fridays from 10 to 17, Saturdays and Sundays from 12-17. Alongside with cold and warm food you can also get newspapers/ magazines, body care products, candies, juices and writing materials.
At the cash desk (Hause 2) you can deposit valuables and small sums of money. We kindly ask you not to bring big sums of money and jewellery to the hospital with you.
The cash desk is opened:
Monday to Friday 8:30-12:30.
Of course, you can also pay with your EC card at our cash desk.

In the shop "HavelWolle" in the hall of the clinic, you will be able to find natural fabrics for everyone.

In the hall of our hospital there is a farm shop "Weichardts Hofladen". Here you can get organically grown food products.

The Hospital Havelhoehe is an emergency hospital and it has a first aid ward, which is staffed around the clock. You can call first aid ward at +49 30/365 01-324 directly or via +49 30/365 01-0. Since January 1, 2004 we are obliged to collect a fee of 10 euros to provide first aid.

For hygiene reasons, we kindly ask you to bring cut flowers only. Since sick people react to smells especially sensitively, you should avoid strongly smelling flowers. In the Intensive care unit, flowers are unfortunately not allowed.

For relatives of patients and for outpatients there are 10 rooms available in the guest house 15. The rooms (7 single rooms, 2 double rooms) are equipped with modern facilities. There is a shower and WC in each room. The breakfast is buffet; there is also a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare your meals. The prices for an apartment (including breakfast) are between 37 and 72 Euro (all prices including VAT). In Hospital Havelhoehe there is a Health Forum Havelhoehe, an athroposophic medical seminar and a lecture centre. Lectures that take place weekly are devoted to different diseases and their treatment, with the focus on the holistic concept of a man. There are also lectures that should motivate people to a sensible and conscious dealing with their health. Moreover, we offer various seminars and courses (for example plasticizing, eurhythmy, painting).

Books for bedridden patients are brought to the ward.
The library for patients in the house 23 is opened Mondays and Thursdays from 14:30 until 17:30.
Patients, who would like to make a living will or a precautionary power of attorney can turn for advice to Ms. Derfert in the Hospice Christophorus at +49 30/789 906 02.

On your admission day, you get a menu for the coming week. If you do not need a special medical diet, you can choose among three menus daily, one of them is vegetarian. During meals preparation, products from controlled organic-dynamic cultivation are used to the great extent.
Breakfast and dinner are offered as buffet, so you put together your meal yourself.
Your health condition permitting you can also take meals together with other patients in the dining room of your ward.
In the hall of the hospital, there are free parking lots. Severely handicapped visitors and patients, that come to emergency room, can also park on the premises of the clinic.
If during your stay in the hospital you have a reason for complaints, that you do not want to clarify with doctors, nurses or therapists at your station, you can turn to a patient representative Mr. Kaiser, telephone: +49 30/355 08 528 or to the central complaints management, Ms. Tholen: +49 030/36501-452 (House 7).
Our mailbox is located in the hall of the hospital. You can buy stamps in the cafeteria (House 28). Letters that you get during your hospital stay are brought to your ward by the post staff.

The hospital Havelhoehe can be reached by buses X34 (from the U-Bfh Zoologischer Garten via Kantstraße, S-Bhf Witzleben, U-Bhf Theodor-Heuss-Platz, S-Bhf Heerstraße) and 134 (via U-Bhf Rathaus Spandau). The bus stop is located directly in front of the clinic.
From Potsdam you can reach the hospital by bus 697 (from Am Schragen until Neukladower Allee). From Zehlendorf there is a ferry service to Kladow (BVG-Ferry Wannsee-Kladow).
The clinic is certified as a smoking free hospital. Smoking is only allowed at the pointed out spots on the hospital premises (so called “smoking islands” that are marked with a shield).
A lecture “Smoking and how to quit it” takes place every Wednesday at 17:00 on the upper floor of the house 12, station 14.

By request of the patient, social service staff complements medical, nursing and therapeutic services by means of personal assistance and measures regarding social situation. The goal is to normalise disturbed relationships of the patients with their families, professions and society, to consult the patient in all social problems and to support them in their professional, medical and social rehabilitation measures. This includes approaching and coordinating material and social aids, for example, settling subsistence, insurance, nursing care insurance and pension issues.
The social service staff complies with confidentiality, consultations only take place only in agreement with the patient.

Our hospital rooms are equipped with chip card telephones. You can buy the chip cards of the house at one of the vending machines in the hall of the house 10. Then you open a credit balance on your personal chip card account. The basic fee is one euro a day, each message unit (90 sec.) costs 15 cent. On the day of your discharge, you will get back the remaining balance and your deposit for the card at the vending machine. Please be aware that the machine does not take coins. In some houses, there is a public telephone (card telephone), a telephone where you can pay with coins is only available in the house 10. You can buy phone cards in the cafeteria (house 28).
In the most wards, there are open visiting hours. Please consider that examinations and therapeutic procedures usually take place before lunch, and the patients should be able to have rest after lunch.
In the mother and child ward, visit of parents is possible any time. Friends and relatives are welcome to come between 16 and 18.

Our volunteers offer our patients their assistance when possibilities of a “normal” day in the clinic” are limited. They are available for a talk, to read, to do small purchases or to accompany during a walk through the hospital grounds. If you wish a volunteer to visit you, please turn to a nurse in our ward.

Each nurse only cares for a certain number of patients. The number of patients to be cared for changes according to the expectant caring needs. This way it is guaranteed that each patient has a permanent contact person among the nursing staff during his stay in the hospital. We try our best to be present continuously when possible.
