The diabetology department comprises 25 beds in single and double rooms as well as a training area.

The diabetology department specialises in treating diabetic foot syndrome, aid in dealing with psychosocial disorder, acceptance and motivation problems, complicated pumps installations, treatment of children and youth as well as care of people with hypoglycemia perception disorders.

Usually a stay in our department can not be avoided in following cases:

• First manifestation of a type 1 diabetes mellitus
• Initial adjustment of insulin, if it is not possible to do it on an outpatient basis
• Acute diabetic foot syndrome
• Severe retinopathy and chronic hyperglycaemia
• Psychosocial complications
• Insulin resistance refractory to treatment
• Decompensation of diabetes mellitus
• Not normoglycaemic metabolism during pregnancy
• Diabetes in childhood and in young age
• Placement of insulin pumps
• Recurrent hypoglycaemia / hypoglycaemic perception disturbance
• Nephropathy, dependant upon dialysis treatment
• Diabetes mellitus and accompanying diseases
